How To Grow Flowers

How we research

How each growing guide is built: which sources we use, how we write for your USDA zone, and what we do when sources disagree.

Start with the climate

Every guide begins with where the plant is hardy, when it can be planted, started indoors or planted out in each zone group, when it blooms, and where it will not make it through the year outdoors. We write those limits into the opening of the guide rather than burying them, and show timing in a calendar you can read at a glance.

Where the facts come from

  • University extension publications and government plant-hardiness data
  • Botanic-garden and nursery information, including cultivar descriptions, size and bloom season
  • Grower forums and societies, treated as reports of experience rather than proof

When sources disagree we say so and explain which we trust and why. Sources are listed at the end of each guide.

Review before publishing

Each guide is read for accuracy, clarity and unsupported claims before it goes live, and revisited when new information changes the advice.

What we don’t claim

We don’t invent statistics, bloom counts or personal growing histories. If we have not grown a plant ourselves we do not write as if we had.
